Project Summary

Work to be completed includes, but is not limited to, the widening of the existing corridor, installing additional turn lanes and improved medians, replacing the existing bridge crossing over Minnehaha Creek, upgrading the existing signal systems, adding new street and sidewalk lighting, improving drainage and water main facilities, increasing pedestrian safety and beautifying the corridor with a variety of landscaping enhancements.

Construction is scheduled to begin in June 2010 and will continue into the 2012 construction season. The project is designed to be built under traffic with staged construction narrowing lanes to one lane in each direction for the majority of the project. The corridor will be restored to two lanes in each direction during winter suspension and then narrowed back to one lane in each direction as-needed to complete the landscaping portions of the the project in 2012.

The final roadway will continue to be a 4-lane divided highway with two lanes in each direction.
