The proposed Washington Avenue Link project has been a part of the City’s comprehensive roadway plan for over 15 years. The proposed improvements would include realigning North Washington Avenue between Davis Street and Dodd Avenue (TH 22). Through Mn/DOT’s District 7 Area Transportation Partnership (ATP) the City received $1,036,000 of federal funds for construction of the roadway in 2012.
When federal funds are utilized for construction, an environmental review must be performed. An environmental assessment is required to investigate and document potential impacts to the environment such as natural, social and economic aspects. These alternatives will be reviewed and discussed in detail. Ultimately, the alternative that best meets the projects purpose and need will emerge as the recommended alternative and be fully evaluated in the Environmental Assessment.
