Environmental Reviews

Bolton & Menk has completed several federal Environmental Reviews for airport expansions. Our team of experts has experience in the environmental review process, cultural resources reviews in addition to working with Categorical Exclusions (CEs) and Environmental Assessments (EAs). The environmental review process follows the federal guidelines, policies and procedures. Some airport actions will not normally cause significant environmental impacts, which in this case a Categorical Exclusions would be conducted. There are actions that need an EA to determine if the proposed action will have impacts to the human and natural environment. This includes runway or taxiway extensions, change in aircraft operations or federal land releases. This analysis includes all aspects required by the Nationwide Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and its umbrella "special purpose laws". These reviews can include, but not limited to, wetlands, cultural resources, soils, water, farmland and others.

The key to any environmental review document is the Purpose and Need. Aviation Group Airport and Environmental Specialists have developed a unique method of documentary aircraft operators at General Aviation airports, which has lead to acceptance of several environmental documents by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and other review agencies. These methods streamline alternative reviews and ultimately, project acceptance. Thus saving the airport client time and money.

Our team of archaeologists is also qualified to address the needs for section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) that is required for CEs, EAs and EISs.
