Cultural Resource Management

Cultural Resource Reviews can be an unaccounted reality in many of your projects. Bolton & Menk’s Cultural Resource Management Team understands the types of projects and funding sources that trigger these reviews. Our team will work with you to determine the necessary type of review and assist with the complex approval process that can sometimes be involved with a project.

The purpose of a Cultural Resource Review is to gain an understanding of what is present within the project area and whether any of the archaeological sites, historic buildings and structures, or traditional cultural properties are of significance or may be impacted by the project. These reviews can reduce your risk and exposure to liability. Federal and state laws protect cultural resources, especially if one knowingly destroys such a finite resource.

Bolton & Menk's Cultural Resource Management Team can assist you with:

  • Archaeological Surveys (State and Federal, Phases I, II, and III)
  • Federal Cultural Resource Regulations (Section 106, ARPA, NEPA, 4 (f))
  • State Cultural Resource Regulations
  • Historical Literature Research
  • Data Recovery
  • Native American Consultation
  • Native American Tribal Lands Review
  • Public Coordination & Participation
  • Environmental Documentation
  • Monitoring during construction
  • Artifact Identification and Analysis
  • Site Evaluation
  • Preservation Planning
  • Ethnography
  • Winter Recognizance Survey

Our Cultural Resource Management Team conducted Cultural Resource Reviews for the:

  • Federal Highway Administration
  • Federal Aviation Administration
  • U.S. Department of Commerce
