CSAH 20 Corridor Improvement Project in Center City Chisago County, Minnesota

Chisago County received last minute federal funding for improvements on CSAH 20 for the 2011 construction season. The surface of CSAH 20 had deteriorated, limited to a 7-ton loading. The corridor lacked speed limit and curve advisory speed signs. The pavement markings were in poor condition. There were also safety concerns at the intersection of CSAH 20 and CSAH 12.

The $1,200,000 improvements included a full depth mill & overlay, 10-ton pavement design, aggregate shouldering, signing, striping, and rumble strips along the 4.5 mile segment of CSAH 20. Bolton & Menk, Inc. assisted the County by identifying and leading the necessary environmental documentation to meet the funding deadlines to deliver the project. The County prepared the design plans and construction documents in house while Bolton & Menk prepared the environmental documentation, coordination, and then obtaining the necessary environmental clearance prior to jeopardizing funding by meeting the deadlines.
