City of Hopkins - 2013 Street & Utility Improvements

Project Summary

The 2013 Street & Utility Improvement Project involves reconstruction of roadways and utilities in the South Presidential neighborhood of Hopkins. This neighborhood includes Monroe, Jackson, Van Buren, and Harrison Avenues South and 1st and 2nd Streets South. The project also includes the Blake Water Tower access drive, reconstruction of a bituminous trail along Excelsior Boulevard just west of Powell Road, and reconstruction of a trail along 3rd Street South adjacent to the Supervalu property.  A map of the proposed reconstruction area can be seen here:

Reconstruction of streets and utilities in the South Presidential neighborhood includes:

  • Replacement of gas main and services in some areas
    (see Gas Main & Service Replacement section)
  • Removal of the existing street pavement and curbing
  • Replacement of the sanitary sewer main
  • Replacement of the water main
  • Replacement of the sanitary sewer and water services
  • Replacement of the storm sewer system
  • Installation of new concrete curbing and asphalt pavement

At its February 5, 2013 meeting, the Hopkins City Council awarded the construction contract to Ryan Contracting.  Construction is expected to occur between April and October of 2013.
