TH 282 – Street & Utility Reconstruction

Project Schedule
May 1: Construction is proceeding more quickly than anticipated. The contractor has more crews than expected on site. At this pace, the project will finish more than a month early providing the weather holds out.
As of Thursday afternoon(4-30-09), utility improvements including sanitary sewer, watermain, services and storm sewer are complete from Mertens Street west to Sand Creek, and Mertens Street east to Wood Street. Between Wood Street and the Railroad tracks, the sanitary sewer is complete. The jackings under the Railroad for the sanitary sewer and storm sewer are completed. The directional drilling for 2 storm sewer leads on the north side of TH 282 that provide drainage for 2 alleys are complete. In the next couple of weeks, the contractor will be finishing the remaining utility work at the east end of the project.
As of Thursday afternoon (4-30-09), street improvements including concrete curb, sidewalk and bituminous street surfacing are complete from the Sand Creek bridge to Mertens Street. Gravel is being place between Mertens Street and Wood Street. The existing bituminous street surface was milled on TH 282 between Rice Street and TH 21, and on the north side of TH 282 east of TH 21. Street improvements including concrete curb, sidewalk and bituminous base course are complete on the south side of TH 282 east of TH 2. As the utility work is finished at the east end of the project, the contractor will then immediately start working on the street improvements.
