Bolton & Menk Becomes Sustaining Member of MSPE
November, 2003
The consulting engineering firm of Bolton & Menk was recently recognized
as a platinum level sustaining firm of the Minnesota Society of Professional
Engineers (MSPE), the only engineering society that represents individual
engineering professionals and licensed engineers (PEs) across all disciplines
in Minnesota. Sustaining firms help support MSPE’s programs and
activities that benefit the entire engineering community.
Bolton & Menk is one of 21 engineering organizations in 2003-2004 to participate
in MSPE’s sustaining firm program and is the only one participating at
the platinum level for the current year. “Our sustaining firms make some
of our goals easier to reach through their financial and employee support,” said
Mary Detloff, MSPE executive director. “Without sustaining firms, it is
very possible that some of our outreach programs would need to be scaled back
or even eliminated.”
Examples of some of the programs sustaining firms like Bolton & Menk help
support include:
-
Promotion professional licensure to engineering students
-
Creation of a leadership course for MSPE members, focusing on “soft skill” areas
such as public speaking, leading a team, written communication, project management
and others
-
Recognition of newly licensed professional engineers in Minnesota through a semi-annual
program and reception
-
Development of study groups and/or review courses for the PE and FE exams
-
Continued growth of the MSPE student chapter at the University of Minnesota Institute
of Technology
-
Creation of materials for guidance counselors to promote engineering careers
to high school students
-
High quality, reasonably priced continuing education programs for engineers
