1st Street - Street & Utility Reconstruction

Project Summary 1st Street

As a part of the Capital Improvement Planning process a number of projects have been identified for reconstruction within the City of Northfield. To help prioritize the needs, City Staff has considered a variety of inputs including health of the underground infrastructure (water, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer), pavement condition, roadway classification, and other outstanding issues. With these considerations, First Street has been selected for street reconstruction because of its poor quality of infrastructure systems, poor pavement condition, and the need to address a storm sewer flooding issues. The project is also in line with the adopted Way Park Master Plan.

The street and utility improvements include watermain, storm sewer, sanitary sewer, street & sidewalk reconstruction, and the associated boulevard restoration along:

  • First Street from one block west of Lincoln Street to Linden Street
  • Orchard Street from Second Street to St. Olaf Avenue
  • Plum Street from Second Street to St. Olaf Avenue
