GLOBAL POSITIONING (GPS) DATA COLLECTION

Using GPS, a complete utility infrastructure inventory of the visible structures can be collected. As well as obtaining the northing and easting coordinate, characteristics of the structures such as type, size and condition can also be entered in the data collector while doing the inventory. These characteristics are beneficial for GIS mapping as well as developing an asset management system of the utility infrastructure. The handheld GPS units used by Bolton & Menk can obtain accuracy from within one (1) meter to within one (1) foot.
