Martin C. Menk, Jr., cofounder of Bolton & Menk, Inc. believes two basic business philosophies exist. One philosophy emphasizes short-term gain, with its easy promises and shallow successes. The other focuses on long-term growth, with business relationships constructed over years between people truly concerned with each other. Bolton & Menk, Inc., has consistently chosen the latter path.

Cofounders Martin Menk and John Bolton didn't make this philosophical choice by accident. "At first we had very little business to do," said Menk about their first year in business, 1949, "so every night we'd go to the office and talk. We'd talk strategy, who we would see, how we would find new clients, and we'd observe what other consultants were doing. We could see what some of their shortcomings were and resolved not to make their mistakes."

Martin and John realized early on that respectful client relationships, personal attention to detail, and satisfied customers and employees would be their main goals. This philosophy continues today.
