Jon A. Rippke

Jon A. Rippke, PE, of our Mankato Office, has been named the Engineer of the Year by the Minnesota Society of Professional Engineers (MSPE). Jon is the President of Bolton & Menk, Inc., a 215-person civil engineering and land surveying firm headquartered in Mankato, with eight offices throughout Minnesota, Iowa and Missouri. He has over 30 years of experience in the planning, design and administration of civil and municipal engineering projects.

Nominees were judged on the basis of engineering achievement; technical and professional society activities; educational and collegiate achievements; civic and humanitarian activities; and continuing engagement in the field of engineering.

Jon has been an active member of MSPE's Traverse Des Sioux chapter for many years, serving as President in 1983 and contributing to the chapter's educational and scholarship efforts. In addition, he is an active citizen in the Mankato area and is currently serving as a member of the Civil Engineering Advisory Board for the new civil engineering program at Minnesota State University, Mankato.

Jon received the Young Engineer of the Year Award from MSPE in 1981 and was also recognized with the MSPE W.R. Coffin Public Service Award in 1992. The award was presented at the society's annual meeting, which was held on May 16-17 in Rochester.

The Minnesota Society of Professional Engineers, founded in 1939, is the only society in Minnesota whose voice speaks for all branches of engineering and is the only active, established organization devoting its entire effort to the professional, ethical, economic, social and political aspects of engineering. The organization is comprised of nine geographic chapters throughout the state and five practice divisions encompassing a wide variety of engineering types -- private practice, government, industry, construction and education.
