Osakis 2016 Street & Utility Project
The project involves street and utility reconstruction improvements in the downtown business district. The improvements improve the replacement of sanitary sewer, watermain, storm sewer, and street lighting as well as the addition of landscaping features. A map of the project area is shown below.
Downtown Project Update (9-1-16)
The electrical contractor will be in town on Friday, September 2nd, to complete the light pole bases on Main Street West from Central Avenue to 1st Avenue West. After the Labor Day holiday, the street contractor will be back to prepare this area for sidewalk and to smooth out the gravel streets of Phase 2 in preparation for Moonshine Madness. Assuming there is no inclement weather, the Concrete Contractor will be back on Thursday, September 8th and Friday, September 9th to complete the sidewalks on Phase 2. Unfortunately, the blacktop on Phase 2 will not be complete for Moonshine Madness on the 10th, but instead should be complete on September 13th or 14th We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
As previously mentioned, the Contractor is going to leave Phase 3, Central Avenue (south of Main Street), as is until after Moonshine Madness on September 10th, so that the entire downtown will remain open and accessible during the festival.
The Contractor’s scheduled has changed and they will begin removing the concrete on Central Avenue the week of September 19th. Removals will include all streets, curb and gutter and sidewalks. Mats will be placed along the building fronts for pedestrian use, similar to the first two phases.
Please, if you have any questions regarding the schedule or any other project concern, call the Bolton & Menk on-site representative, Al Spilles at 612-756-3143 or the City Engineer, Sheila Krohse at 612-756-4645.
