An Award of Excellence was given to the City of Iowa Falls and Bolton & Menk, Inc. from the Iowa Concrete Paving Association and Iowa DOT. The Washington Avenue Streetscape and Infrastructure Improvement project in Iowa Falls was honored with an award for Iowa’s “Best” 2016 Municipal Street/Intersection PCC Paving Project under 15,000 SY.
Aging infrastructure of deteriorating streets, uneven sidewalks, and utility issues plagued Downtown Iowa Falls. The seven-block project consisted of a full reconstruction with utility replacement and streetscape amenities. A unique public outreach effort was essential to delivering a successful project. The annual city celebration brought residents and visitors to downtown where City staff received many positive comments on the project.
The project was completed in the summer of 2016.
