Overview

“Working with Michael Cole, Sr. and Jordan Petersen of Bolton & Menk on UNC Asheville’s campus master plan has been one of the best experiences. Michael and Jordan worked seamlessly and expertly with architects and engineers from Duda|Paine Architecture to create an outstanding 30-year master plan for the University. They have done excellent design work on our campus before and master planning work for colleagues at other institutions; they lived up to and exceed our expectations”

Sectors

The University of North Carolina Asheville, a 4,000-student liberal arts public university, needed an updated master plan. Bolton & Menk provided master planning services to help identify the future vision of UNC Asheville. The 2027 Master Plan encompassed a phased process and envisions a broad variety of improvements including gateway entries, peripheral properties, campus open spaces, vehicular and pedestrian circulation, capacity and space planning, athletics, and student/faculty engagement. The process involved a multi-layered approach to feedback and engagement incorporating a range of stakeholders that include university faculty, staff, students, and external public/private stakeholders within the Asheville area.
