2045 Long Range Transportation Plan

Mankato/North Mankato Area Planning Organization (MAPO)

The first major task for the newly formed Mankato/North Mankato Area Planning Organization (MAPO) was to develop and adopt a long-range transportation plan. This was the first time the two counties, four cities, and five townships that comprise MAPO had come together to develop a plan that will guide regional investments into the future.

Bolton & Menk worked closely with the MAPO jurisdictions to collect and interpret data, and in turn provide meaningful findings upon which decisions could be made for the region. This required both innovative technical analysis relying heavily upon GIS and our cost estimating tools, as well as an educational component to allow the jurisdictions to comprehend the results from a regional perspective.

The MAPO achieved a fully supported long-range transportation plan which will guide its member jurisdictions for years to come. Through Bolton & Menk's work, MAPO's first long-range transportation plan included a clear documentation of existing issues, needs and opportunities, sound cost estimating for future projects, and public/elected official support and approval.
