Aztec Street Improvements
City of St. Francis, Minnesota
A developer approached the city with plans to construct a commercial development on vacant property. There was one problem however, access was not permitted to the property via TH 47 by MnDOT. As a result, a solution to provide access to the property in another location was needed.
Bolton & Menk identified a location that would provide safe access to the development and a secondary access to the adjacent apartment complex with one way in and out. Through collaboration with the commercial developer and apartment complex owner, the necessary right-of-way was secured to design and construct the street. City utilities were constructed beneath the roadway and a concrete walk was built to allow access to other pedestrian networks.
As a result of the project, access was provided to a new commercial business, city utilities were extended for future development, and residents of the apartment complex now have a sidewalk to access other pedestrian facilities within the community.
