Bolton & Menk provided land surveying services for the 74-mile Minnesota portion of the 110-mile segment of the Multi-Value Project 3 – a 345 kV transmission line connecting ITC's Lakefield Junction to the newly constructed Huntley Substation in southern Minnesota, and the Ledyard switching substation and MidAmerican Energy's Kossuth County substation in northern Iowa.
ITC required a 200-foot-wide right-of-way corridor to install the 74-mile-long transmission line across southern Minnesota. Section corner recovery was performed for more than 450 section corners, all section lines, and road rights-of-way. Property boundaries were also determined and plotted for the entire route. Working directly with title and right-of-way teams, Bolton & Menk prepared more than 350 separate easement exhibits, which were used in connection with the land acquisition easements. Separate full parcel surveys were prepared on more than 30 properties along with numerous miscellaneous exhibits. Construction staking services were also provided.
Our local knowledge of the project area, coupled with our ability to quickly "staff up" to meet the demands required by a project of this scale provided a smooth and successful project, from right-of-way acquisition through construction.
