18th Street Reconstruction
City of Perry, Iowa
18th Street is a designated collector roadway providing a critical connection from Perry High School to the north area of the city. Construction was needed to convert a one-half-mile rural section of roadway to a concrete, urban section. Additionally, the project included the design of another collector street in the area to verify the proposed alignments would work in conjunction with each other and provide sufficient drainage for future projects.
In order to provide adequate storm sewer, Bolton & Menk completed a hydraulic analysis of nearly 100 acres to size the storm sewer, not only for existing conditions but for future development. The project was phased for construction to minimize impacts to multiple residents and businesses within the project corridor.
The project required successful coordination with residents, business owners, the school district, Iowa DOT, and the city. Design for the project was completed within the minor schedule through the Iowa DOT and improves the overall functionality of the north area of the city.
