The Minnesota Recreation and Parks Association awarded the City of Hastings and Bolton & Menk with an Award of Excellence in the Park and Facility category for the Riverfront Renaissance Improvements Project. The award was presented at the City of Hastings City Council Meeting on May 15. The MRPA Award of Excellence program recognizes agencies or organizations in Minnesota for outstanding achievements in parks, recreation, and leisure services.

The Cities of Hunter and Arthur Park Districts formed the Hunter/Arthur JPA Park Board in 2013 upon the decision of BNSF Railway to abandon their railway corridor between Hunter and Arthur. The JPA pursued the acquisition of this corridor through the Rails to Trails program and successfully acquired the corridor in 2013.
The City of Mankato was recognized by the American Public Works Association (APWA) - Minnesota Chapter at the annual conference on November 17. The City of Mankato Water Treatment Backwash Reclamation Project received the Environmental Stewardship Award for their innovative water reclamation treatment process.
The American Public Works Association (APWA) - Minnesota Chapter recognized the City of Buffalo at the annual conference on November 17. The City of Buffalo Trunk Highway 25 Downtown Corridor Improvement project received a Project of the Year Honorable Mention for the work done to create a safe multimodal corridor for vehicles, pedestrians, and bicyclists.
The Faribault County Soil and Water Conservation District presented the 2016 Stormwater Excellence Award for efforts put forth for water quality work completed in conjunction with the parking lot reconstruction done at the Ag Center in the City of Blue Earth. Partners on the project included the Faribault County Development Corporation, the Blue Earth Community Foundation, Blue Earth EDA, the City of Blue Earth, and Bolton & Menk.
Effective August 29, 2016, the FAA’s new drone/UAV regulations; known as Part 107, took effect.
