Home / 66th Street Streetscape, City of Richfield, Minnesota
Working closely with city staff and local neighborhoods, we generated a more attractive, multimodal, user-friendly environment connecting the community's east and west sides.
The aging infrastructure and non-pedestrian friendly environment along 66th Street through the heart of Richfield has been an area of concern for the city for several years. Heavy traffic volumes due to reconstruction of the crosstown (I-35W/Highway 62) forced much of that diverted traffic to the 66th Street corridor. After completion of the crosstown work, and aligning with Hennepin County's newly constructed street and infrastructure work along 66th Street (CSAH 53), the city is excited to take back their street and provide an improved experience for all corridor users.
Bolton & Menk provided landscape architecture services for the 3.5-mile corridor. Working closely with city staff and local neighborhoods, we generated a more attractive, multimodal, user-friendly environment connecting the community's east and west sides.
Along with the improved roadway alignment, new bike lanes, multi-use trails and sidewalks, and landscaping were incorporated to provide all corridor users a safe and inviting experience. This streetscape project is part of Richfield's vision to be a more family-friendly community by enhancing the area's quality of life.
