Student Internships
Intern with Bolton & Menk
Bolton & Menk’s reputation, together with expanding expertise and depth of experience, has enabled us to maintain long-lasting relationships with our clients and expand our market share throughout the Upper Midwest, Southeast, and Southwest. As a top workplace with more than 35 locations, the possibilities are endless!
If you’re interested in a career in civil engineering, our internship program is right for you! You will learn practical on-the-job experience and spend most of your time working with construction phase activities.
If you’re more interested in the corporate side of Bolton & Menk, we have internship opportunities for you, too! Please check our current openings page to see what is currently available.
Do boundary surveys, construction staking, topographic surveys, ALTA surveys, or GPS data collection interest you? Apply to be a land survey field intern! You will work closely with our survey crews and help an experienced crew chief with construction staking while gaining experience with Trimble, Robotic Total Station, and GPS equipment.
We are always looking for creative, motivated, and design-savvy interns to help our landscape architecture team! As an intern, you will be working closely with our Planning & Urban Development team to learn practical on-the-job experience and spend most of your time working on landscape design projects.
Planning interns gain real-life experience with our experienced planning staff by collecting and preparing data, attending community meetings, and assisting with other elements of planning projects. This role works closely with our planning team to perform a variety of duties including research, drafting reports and correspondence, and assisting with community engagement and outreach.
We have projects going on all over the Upper Midwest and Southeast regions. The positions are based out of a designated office location but, most of the time, you report directly to a project site if you are a civil engineering or survey intern.
In the summer, it is not unusual to work 8-10+ hour days at the peak of the construction season. Much of the work is outside, so you will be subject to varying weather conditions. Interns typically work May-August, but may continue throughout the school year on a part-time basis.
Student interns are paid a competitive hourly rate plus time and a half above 40 hours in a week.
Don’t wait! Interested students must apply via our website. Résumés dropped off, mailed, emailed, or faxed will not be accepted. We typically begin collecting résumés during fall career fairs and begin the screening process in mid-November until all positions are filled. Candidates must apply online and we will contact you by email if you are selected for a screening interview.
