Affordable Housing Helps All (AHHA) Campaign
North Mecklenburg County, North Carolina is a vibrant community, with countless individuals and families who call this place home. Each of these residents has their own unique story and reasons for wanting to live here. The “AHHA!” campaign seeks to highlight everyday interactions and their connections to housing affordability in the area and how they relate back to the people who call our community home.
The campaign centers around the idea that people are at the heart of much of our daily business and those people need somewhere to live. By featuring several relatable scenarios, we can draw attention to how housing affordability may impact the audience even if they already have somewhere to live.
For example, one radio ad features a woman waiting at a clinic for an extended period because there aren’t enough nurses on staff to deal with everyone due to the lack of affordable housing. There’s then an “AHHA” moment where the connection between affordable housing and the protagonists experience “clicks.” The catchphrase will be “You just had an AHHA Moment: Explanation of how affordable housing relates to the situation.”
By showcasing a series of diverse stories, the “AHHA” campaign personalizes the issue of housing affordability and encourages residents to reflect on why this issue matters to them. The call to action invites individuals to learn more about affordable housing and how it impacts their community.
Through this campaign, the goal is to obtain a groundswell of support for affordable housing initiatives in North Mecklenburg County. By showcasing the reasons why housing affordability matters, we can work together to create a sense of communal, yet individual, support for housing affordability.
The Bolton & Menk Visual Communication team was responsible for all visual and creative elements of this campaign, including logo and content creation, website development, and marketing materials – posters, brochures, banners, and more.
