Madison Burke Elected Iowa Rural Development Council Board Vice President   

Madison Burke, senior funding specialist out of Bolton & Menk’s Des Moines location, has been elected as vice president of Iowa Rural Development Council’s (IRDC) Board of Directors, an organization committed to advance the interests of rural Iowa. Madison has served on the IRDC Leadership Team since 2020.

About Madison

Madison is passionate about getting to know the communities that Bolton & Menk serves and finding funding sources that align with their needs. She assists Iowa communities through the entire funding process, from finding and analyzing potential funding sources to writing grant applications to administering the funding requirements. In her role, Madison is responsible for tracking funding sources that are applicable to Iowa communities and communicating funding updates to those project managers and communities. In 2022, Madison obtained her professional certification in grant writing to better serve Bolton & Menk communities.

About IRDC

Since 1992, the Iowa Rural Development Council (IRDC) has been engaging partners and assisting small towns.

The IRDC was created as part of an Executive Order and ensuing Farm Bill in 1992. It received federal funding for many years and was later housed in the Iowa Department of Economic Development. But both state and federal funding dissolved, and the group has operated informally without paid staff since 2005. In 2018, Bill Menner, former USDA Rural Development State Director, was hired as the Executive Director. Currently, IRDC has more than 700 participating members representing both public and private sectors.

The financial resources created through sponsors like Bolton & Menk and engaged members position the IRDC to support initiatives that address rural issues, build capacity with small towns, and capitalize on opportunities that exist to enhance the viability of rural communities.
