Marcus Thomas, PE, Vice President of Emerging Markets & Services | Senior Principal
University of Minnesota Civil, Environmental, and Geo-Engineering (CEGE) Professional Advisory Board, Board Chair
Marcus Thomas, based in our Minneapolis location, has been appointed Board Chair for the University of Minnesota’s Civil, Environmental, and Geo-Engineering (CEGE) Professional Advisory Board. Serving a two-year term from 2025 to 2026, Marcus leads a group of ten CEGE alumni who hold leadership roles across both public and private sectors. Together, they advise on curriculum development, student recruitment strategies, and internship and job placement programs, ensuring graduates are well-prepared to enter the workforce.
As Board Chair, Marcus facilitates collaboration between CEGE leadership and industry professionals, guiding discussions that strengthen the connection between academia and practice. This role provides Bolton & Menk with early insight into departmental initiatives, opportunities to engage with top engineering students, and a platform to share input on the technical and soft skills needed for future success. It’s a unique opportunity to influence the next generation of engineers while fostering talent that aligns with our mission to make communities better.

His strategy of proceeding with the end in mind routinely results in high levels of client satisfaction and has generated a résumé of award-winning projects. “Communities come to us with complex problems. His commitment to proactive organization and communication has led to success in managing large project teams. Marcus joined the firm in 1994, manages Bolton & Menk’s Minneapolis office, and serves on the Board of Directors. He has a range of experience in municipal project administration from conception through construction and is a leader in the company’s equity and sustainability initiatives.

Cody Christianson, PE, ENV SP, Active Transportation & Transit Practice Leader | Principal
Association of Pedestrian & Bicycle Professionals, Board Member & Treasurer
Cody Christianson, from our Fargo location, serves as a Board Member and Treasurer for the Association of Pedestrian & Bicycle Professionals (APBP). Elected to the Board in December 2023 for a three-year term, Cody stepped into the Treasurer role in January 2025. In this capacity, Cody helps guide the organization’s strategic direction while overseeing financial responsibilities such as monitoring accounts, reviewing statements, and preparing annual budgets. Cody is excited to contribute to APBP’s mission, bringing years of experience in active transportation to help keep the organization at the forefront of the industry and support its continued growth and impact.
About Cody
Cody is an active transportation and transit practice leader, with a career in transportation engineering that began in 2008. He brings national expertise in bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure, helping communities build support for safer, more inclusive multimodal systems. By actively listening to community input, collaborating with stakeholders, and applying his deep industry knowledge, Cody designs improvements that enhance safety, promote accessibility, and align with community goals. His designs prioritize comfort and connectivity for people who walk, bike, or roll—integrating seamlessly into existing infrastructure and improving the overall transportation experience. Cody is also a credentialed Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP), applying this holistic framework to evaluate sustainability, resiliency, and equity across all project types and phases.

The Association of Pedestrian & Bicycle Professionals is a leading network of professionals dedicated to creating more walkable, bikeable communities across the United States and Canada. With more than 1,200 members, the organization provides technical training, resources, and advocacy to advance sustainable transportation.
Anna Springer, PLA, ASLA, Landscape Architect Project Manager
The Minnesota Chapter of The American Society of Landscape Architects, Treasurer
Anna Springer, landscape architect project manager in our Burnsville location, serves as Treasurer for the Minnesota Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA-MN). Elected in September 2023 for a two-year term, Anna manages the chapter’s financial operations, ensuring funds are properly tracked and budgets are maintained. Working closely with the executive committee, Anna helps develop and oversee the annual budget, supporting the chapter’s ability to deliver on its mission. Anna is excited to collaborate with a passionate group of peers to strengthen the profession and support its continued growth in Minnesota.
About Anna
As a landscape architect project manager whose career began in 2013, Anna is responsible for the successful completion of park and recreation system master plans, trail, greenway and open space plans, and park master planning projects. Her expertise includes park system planning principles, recreational needs assessments, site inventory and analysis, community engagement, report writing, and site design from concept to documentation and implementation of park site designs. Anna is passionate about landscape architecture as she grew up using the parks and public amenities and developed a love for shared outdoor spaces.

ASLA-MN represents nearly 300 landscape architecture professionals across Minnesota, advocating for the profession through education, communication, and fellowship. As part of the national ASLA network of more than 18,000 members worldwide, the chapter plays a vital role in advancing the field locally.
