Children’s Library

Full STEAM ahead! We’re charting new territory for STEAM education.

We aim to spark curiosity in children ages 6–12 and introduce them to the exciting world of STEAM careers. Our books break down technical topics into engaging, easy-to-understand stories that expand perspectives, deepen awareness of the world around them, and encourage critical and creative thinking.

Originally created as a companion resource for communities hosting the Smithsonian Waterways Traveling Exhibit, this initiative has grown into an expanding series focused on helping kids discover the many paths within STEAM.

Our partnership with Esri to first develop this series brought an entire library of resources to teachers and students alike. Visit SteamAtWork.com to browse printable activities and games. Learn how to calculate area, measure distance, change basemaps, use your own spatial data to make a map, and more!
