Gen H Honored with 2025 APA-NC Marvin Collins Planning Award

The Gen H Comprehensive Plan has been awarded the 2025 Marvin Collins Outstanding Planning Award in the category of Comprehensive Plan – Small Community by the North Carolina Chapter of the American Planning Association (APA-NC).

This honor recognizes Hendersonville’s thoughtful approach to growth, sustainability, and community character, developed through extensive public engagement and adopted unanimously alongside the Downtown Master Plan in August 2024. Together, these plans guide Hendersonville’s future while preserving its historic charm.

The downtown master plan complements Gen H with design guidelines that promote scale-sensitive development, lively public spaces, and trail connectivity. The study area spans key corridors and historic districts, including Main Street and 7th Avenue.

This award celebrates Hendersonville’s commitment to thoughtful planning and community pride. Congratulations to the City of Hendersonville and our project partners, Nealon Planning, Green Heron Planning, and Retail Strategies.
