2040 Comprehensive Plan Update

Like all communities in the seven-county metropolitan area, the City of Forest Lake needed to complete a comprehensive plan update. This plan needed to meet the Metropolitan Council criteria and the changing needs of the City. The City also wanted a robust public engagement process to get input from as many community members as possible.

Bolton & Menk led a comprehensive plan task force tasked with developing the direction of the comprehensive plan. The task force ultimately developed the vision, goals, and objectives guiding the plan and provided recommendations for future land use. Key recommendations included a new freeway interchange and an increase in commercial and industrial land uses. We developed a concept for a potential interchange to provide a basis for conversation among City and county leaders.

Bolton & Menk helped the City draft a comprehensive plan addressing the future needs of the community. We also provided background information and graphics for a series of community conversations led by City staff.
