Gen H Comprehensive and Master Plan

Bolton & Menk led a comprehensive update of the City of Hendersonville’s comprehensive plan, establishing a clear, forward-looking policy and implementation framework to guide sustainable growth over the next 25 years. The firm evaluated existing goals and strategies, identified gaps in implementation, and worked with the City to refine priorities that align with current needs and long-term community objectives. Building on relevant elements of past planning efforts, Bolton & Menk developed actionable strategies that strengthen the connection between policy goals and City ordinances, renewing the City’s collective commitment to implementation and measurable outcomes.

Developed concurrently, the Downtown Master Plan provides a comprehensive framework for future growth, preservation, and development within the City’s planning jurisdiction. The plan aligns with local policies and includes design guidelines to ensure new development reflects downtown’s historic character, supports pedestrian-friendly environments, and respects surrounding neighborhoods. Covering Main Street, 7th Avenue, and adjacent areas, the plan focuses on enhanced streetscapes, public spaces, trail connections, and opportunities for infill development through defined character districts and focus areas. Both plans were unanimously adopted by the City Council in 2024.
