Bolton & Menk is designing a transformative vision for NC 152 in China Grove, addressing traffic, freight, and community needs to shape a smarter, connected corridor for the future.
NC 152 is the primary east-west roadway through China Grove, which is located halfway between Concord and Salisbury, northeast of Charlotte. As the region grows, China Grove is facing an increase in traffic volumes on NC 152 due to new local industrial and residential developments and due to the route's popularity as a connection to both I-85 and I-77 for industrial and warehousing developments. The Town and Cabarrus-Rowan MPO (CRMPO) selected Bolton & Menk to look at the route and identify improvements to the corridor including congestion mitigation, bicycle and pedestrian facilities, freight accommodation, and land use regulations.
Bolton & Menk worked with the community to identify a vision for the corridor, including an assessment of existing conditions in the area. This assessment includes current and expected land uses, traffic volumes, origin-destination patterns, and identification of freight clusters. The plan includes context-sensitive, community-driven recommendations.
