The American Professional Works Association selected Principal Engineer Brian Simmons as their 2022 Professional Manager of the Year – Engineering and Technology. This award is given to those with outstanding achievements in the areas of engineering and technology within the public works field and who inspire excellence, leadership, and dedication to the public good.
Brian joined Bolton & Menk in 2005 as a municipal engineer responsible for project management, planning, and design, with expertise in trenchless technology, cured-in-place pipe, asset management, and UAV (drones). He currently oversees Bolton & Menk’s UAV and Remote Sensing team and is focused on integrating LiDAR Processing and Reality Capture into projects to help his clients save time and money.
Passionate about innovation and leveraging new technology for both the firm and the communities he serves, Brian serves on Bolton & Menk’s Product Innovation and Process Innovation teams. “Product innovation is an opportunity for us to anticipate things that our clients are not yet even aware that they need,” Simmons says. “We spend time thinking about where markets are going or where the industry is headed. Allowing smaller communities to have access to technologies they may not otherwise have is the ultimate goal.”
