NexTech: Using UAVs for Flood Analysis

Flooding season is quickly approaching, and with it comes unsafe environments that are potentially dangerous for humans to enter. That’s where drones come in.

With the ability to be quickly deployed and access hard-to-reach or potentially dangerous areas, drones are a great tool for responding to emergency or time-sensitive situations; providing valuable information to help inform decisions after an event and to help prioritize resources and effort responses. Our team’s goal is to provide data that leads to more effective solutions in the short-term and help guide planning in the long-term. Use the StoryMap below to see how our team worked with the City of Jordan, Minnesota to safely gather data in response to flooding and ice jam events.
