When communities face transportation studies, especially in corridors with high concentrations of Environmental Justice populations, there’s often a legacy of mistrust. Previous efforts may have overlooked or undervalued local input, leaving residents hesitant to engage. We’re changing that narrative at Bolton & Menk.
Our Community Advisory Group model is built on authentic collaboration. We partner directly with community-based organizations that already serve and advocate for the people most impacted. These partnerships are not symbolic—they’re compensated, respected, and central to the process.
In addition to advisory groups, our outreach liaisons play a vital role in building proactive connections within client communities. Outreach liaisons support the development of project teams by including local, small, and diverse partners, and coordinate engagement efforts to ensure stakeholder voices are reflected in decision-making and project implementation. Our team takes the time to understand the social fabric of each community, identifying the right voices and organizations to lead the way.
