This project involved the planning, modeling, final design, and regulatory approvals for a triplex 18,000 GPM VFD in-line water booster pump station along with a 7,126-linear-foot, 36-inch water transmission main to connect the Grand Strand Water & Sewer Authority and Myrtle Beach systems.
This project included the installation of a 36-inch waterline along US Highway 17 Bypass, 62nd Avenue North extension, Claire Chapin Epps Drive, Robert Grissom Parkway, and Frontage Road B2. The interconnection provides the system with a backup water source and further builds capacity for supplemental demand as growth continues in the unincorporated areas.
Bolton & Menk completed the planning, modeling, final design, construction services, and regulatory approvals for a triplex 18,000 GPM 300HP variable frequency drive (VFD) in-line water booster pump station with one spare opening for future pump, along with a 7,126-linear-foot, 36-inch water transmission main to connect the Grand Strand Water and Sewer Authority and City of Myrtle Beach systems. This was particularly difficult because the operating pressures between the two municipalities differ by approximately 10 PSI to 20 PSI. The design and permitting included 1,650 linear feet of 42-inch PE water line crossing (directional drill) of the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway.
This project was funded by the State Revolving Fund (SRF) program, which secured the funding to connect two surface water treatment plants, Bull Creek, and Myrtle Beach.
