The unique structures required a hands-on inspection to identify deficiencies from the concrete foundations to the stairs, platforms, and slide supports.
The City of Edina’s Aquatic Center had aging structures that needed inspection and repair recommendations. The unique structures required a hands-on inspection to identify deficiencies from the concrete foundations to the stairs, platforms, and slide supports.
Bolton & Menk provided an in-depth review of every structural element including all bolts, visible welds, and anchors. We used ultrasonic testing methods where heavy corrosion was identified to determine the remaining material thickness to help us determine the extent of repair necessary. Our goal was to touch every structural member and connection and assess structural integrity.
The city received a report summarizing our findings for each structure. We prioritized the report to identify structural deficiencies in need of repair or replacement as well as non-structural deficiencies that could be addressed with maintenance and upkeep over and above current scheduled maintenance. The City of Edina used the reports to provide guidance and justification to make necessary repairs, achieve funding, and ultimately allow the aquatic center to be a safer place for the families to visit.
