"Thank you for all of the work on this. Youngsville is lucky you were the consultant for this project."
- Nathan Page, Youngsville Town Manager
The Town of Youngsville is home to NC 96, a major thoroughfare for commuters and freight traffic. As one of the only crossing points of a major railroad, Main Street is frequently congested. The town and CAMPO identified the need for a series of new roads to serve as a bypass for the town. As part of an overall Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP) update, CAMPO wanted to better define the alignment and expected costs of a portion of the bypass.
Bolton & Menk examined travel patterns in the area and identified and analyzed three potential alignments to understand their potential impacts on traffic flow and safety, as well as their potential costs and impacts on properties and natural resources. The Bolton & Menk team worked with NCDOT, CAMPO, the Town of Youngsville, and Franklin County to consider the benefits and impacts of each alignment.
Once an alternative was selected, Bolton & Menk developed a full concept-level cost estimate, including traffic control options, and provided concept-level design drawings to CAMPO. CAMPO will include these in their MTP, ensuring the town and MPO are working towards the same vision of the future.
