Simpsonville is turning nine corridors and a 26-acre park into a civic canvas—where walkability, heritage, and community converge.
Simpsonville is revitalizing its historic downtown to enhance civic infrastructure, public spaces, and community connectivity. Guided by the Downtown Master Plan, the city’s vision spans nine key street corridors and a 26-acre city park. To bring this vision to life, Bolton & Menk is leading the design and implementation efforts, ensuring alignment with Simpsonville’s long-term goals and delivering impactful improvements across the downtown area.
Simpsonville’s municipal complex project combined their City Hall and Police Department, Fire Department, and Circuit and Summary Courthouse, strategically placed near existing landmarks like the Arts Center and Historic Library. Extensive site analysis informed the park’s redesign, evaluating mature tree canopy, sports courts, historic features, and environmental constraints, including coordination with DHEC on monitoring wells.
A comprehensive feasibility study guided early visioning and cost evaluation, shaping the final design and programming of both civic and park spaces. Bolton & Menk has led the project through schematic design, development, and permitting, and is currently managing construction. In parallel, the city secured a C-Fund grant to re-imagine downtown streetscapes. Bolton & Menk, in collaboration with CoTransCo and SCDOT, is redesigning nine corridors to improve walkability, safety, and connectivity. Streetscape design is advancing through construction documentation and permitting, with completion anticipated by the end of 2026.
