Bolton & Menk is providing support for the Smart Salting Program, including developing presentations and teaching virtual classes.
Bolton & Menk is currently under contract with the MPCA to provide technical support for the Smart Salting Program. Under this contract, we created several Smart Salting refresher classes and a draft agenda and PowerPoint for a new class to reduce chloride used for water softening. We developed great relationships with watershed organizations, cities, and counties around the state that host training. We coordinate with these clients and MPCA staff to organize instructors and co-instructors. We have five staff teaching the MPCA Smart Salting classes as well as updating the content with the latest information, technology, equipment, and products. In the past two years we have taught approximately 150 Smart Salting and other winter maintenance classes online and in person. Our involvement consists of:
