Low Salt Design Corridor Consideration

Collaboration is key, and in this video, we get to see how Bolton & Menk workgroups can come together to deliver remarkable results on a Low Salt Design corridor. Watch as our Bolton & Menk team members review a brand-new site design layout through the low salt lens from concept to incorporation. Using the Low Salt Design checklist, the collaboration team will make real adjustments to the project layout, ensuring that winter-time safety is planned for, annual upkeep costs are drastically reduced, and our environmental impact is mediated. By looking at factors such as the sun and wind, the design team can make changes to the project plan so that winter performance is a key component of the final plan.

“We used to think about these things and life has gotten so easy. We can just put a building anywhere. We can build a road anywhere – we can engineer anything. We’ve kind of forgotten how to use nature to the best effect,” says Bob Bean, Water Resources Engineer Project Manager.

These core concepts can and should be incorporated into our applicable projects in cold climate regions. We hope that you are able to see how a few simple considerations are all it takes to create an outstanding project site that performs throughout all of our region’s changing seasons.
