These improvements highlight the college’s dedication to science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) education while providing unique hands-on learning opportunities and enhanced collaborative efforts between faculty and students.
The expansion of Nobel Hall on Gustavus Adolphus College’s campus provided an opportunity for new state-of-the-art science labs and a new “Black Box” theater. The theater can be reconfigured to allow different types of audience interactions and different stage settings. These improvements highlight the college’s dedication to science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) education while providing unique hands-on learning opportunities and enhanced collaborative efforts between faculty and students.
Bolton & Menk provided civil design services for the project. Our team designed sanitary sewer, drinking water, and stormwater utilities to serve the improvements along with grading plans for sidewalk and parking lot improvements. Underground stormwater infiltration systems were used to promote groundwater recharge while avoiding several existing underground utility service tunnels. The project has also been certified at the Gold level for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), with the infiltration galleries proving to be instrumental in obtaining the certification.
We worked with Gustavus Adolphus College, Hastings + Chivetta Architects, Inc., and Kraus Anderson Construction Company to realize the final project.
