On Monday, September 9, Bolton & Menk’s Children’s Book series was awarded the 2019 American Public Works Association’s Exceptional Performance in Non-Chapter Journalism award. The award recognizes exceptional performance in presenting the story of a public works issue or event that projects a positive image of individuals or agencies in the course of their performance in either broadcast or print mediums.
The children’s book series consists of 7 books on STEAM and A/E/C topics including the water cycle, planning, civil engineering, landscape architecture, GIS, wastewater, and even a Christmas story. This book series is written by the professional staff at Bolton & Menk with the goal of getting young children introduced to STEAM fields at an early age with the hopes of increasing the future hiring pool. Children are taught the information in an easy to understand story that they can relate to, broadening their perspective of the world.
Because the book series was so well received by the communities we serve, Bolton & Menk will be continuing the series with an additional two books before 2019 comes to a close. Creating this book series has been a fun way for the firm to get a new generation involved in STEAM-related fields.
