The design services included a large-scale pilot study of chemical phosphorus removal and evaluation of the agronomic properties of the dried, high phosphorus content solids.
Tyson Foods constructed a phosphorus removal process at its pork processing plant in Storm Lake, Iowa as required by the Iowa Nutrient Reduction Strategy. Bolton & Menk designed a process that removed phosphorus from the treatment facility clarifier effluent that produces high phosphorus content and dry solids material for economical and high-value land application. The design services included a large-scale pilot study of chemical phosphorus removal and evaluation of the agronomic properties of the dried, high phosphorus content solids.
Bolton & Menk provided design and construction phase services for the chemical phosphorus removal facility including dissolved air flotation solids/liquid separation, biosolids and phosphorus solids dewatering, solids drying, and dried solids storage structure.
